I’m too lazy to write an essay but here are a few things I’ve done during this social distance of 2021:
– Read more books: Though not a frequent and fast reader like many people I know, I’ve tried to read 7-9 books each recent year, recording them on my Goodreads. Social distancing gives me lots of time to read, but also stress to restrain me from picking up my Kindle. So “read more books”, I always tell myself.
– Paint more: I’ve started to paint on big canvases a few years ago, but only 1 or 2 pieces per year, and without any long term goal. Lately, my passion on painting has grown and I’d like to look at the benchmark “Van Gogh did around 900 paintings and sold one”, and see how far can I go with it. I actually sold 1 acrylic painting, after the 1st pandemic wave to my hometown in 2020.
– NFT: It’s on trend! The word suddenly came to my feed because I often searched for videos on art to watch on Youtube. It seemed to be something that helped somebody earn fortunes overnight, which always made me doubt, but later I learned more interesting information about it. It solves the problem of selling digital works. Digital art has been born for so long but it has to be sold via physical formats such as print or 3D print, or mixed with traditional methods to be unique. Now, with NFT, there is something of it can be put on for sale now: the digital ownership. I love that part because of course I love to do digital art even before I do acrylic painting. I once tried setting accounts of international platform to sell digital prints but I had problems with packaging and calculating shipping fee, etc. So now I have better motivation to get back to digital art again, and am working on certain projects. I create a new Instagram account for them, and even succeeded in minting my first collection onto Opensea.io
– and Dust off my camera: I feel guilty leaving my camera there shooting nothing. My last job with a person was many months ago, and my last job with products was 2 months ago. I did a studio portrait for my mom last month. I’ve done some shots of flowers and stuffs around my house, with careful lighting and color adjustments as a job, even though just for social media. I’m not gonna give up photography.
